The Nature of Science
In the first few days of class I teach lessons on the Nature of Science - the criteria of science, and how it is conducted - including the different types of data that can be collected. I strongly feel that students must learn to speak science fluently in order to become scientifically literate. My goal as a science teacher is to not only provide the information they will need to be successful but also to show them how to make connections between concepts in order to become knowledgeable about the subject.
- 1.1 - What are the characteristics of living things?
- 1.2 - How can you tell the difference between science and non-science?
- 1.3 - How can inferences and observations help inform our understanding of biology?
